July 26th 2010 Ranger Announcement for 2011 Season
With the support of the Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA), the Etobicoke Rangers Baseball Club is pleased to announce that the Rangers' Midget program will compete in the Eastern Canadian Premier League (ECPL) for the 2011 season. The Etobicoke Rangers Midget program will now consist of two teams which will be 18U and 16U and will continue to play at Connorvale Park. The Rangers Midget program is making the move in response to growing demand from local players and their parents for a more competitive, while still cost-efficient alternative. The 18U and 16U teams will now compete in league play against clubs from Welland, Hamilton, Burlington, and Ajax. Tryouts will begin in early August to be followed by a fall program in September as well as an indoor program throughout the winter and early spring.

2010 Lloyd McConnie Rookieball Tournament Champions
The Bloordale Rookieball team (8 and 9 year olds) competed in the Etobicoke Baseball Annual Lloyd McConnie SOBA tournament, dedicated to a man who believed strongly in youth baseball. The tournament hosted 12 teams across the GTA, and has evolved to be the number one Rookieball Select tournament in Ontario. The level of competition is always challenging for the young ball players and this year was no exception. After a rather ordinary Saturday, the Bloordale Rookieball team vanquished three worthy opponents with a relentless attack and inspired play, to make it a memorable Sunday for the team. In the morning they outlasted Oakville 15 - 13, scoring 6 runs in the last inning to grab the wild card spot by a slim margin over North Toronto and North York. Bloordale's reward was to play a very strong Martingrove team that had outscored opponents 44 - 9 in the first three games. Bloordale jumped to an early lead and held on to defeat Martingrove 14 - 11. In the finals they avenged their only loss against a terrific West Hill team. Again the relentless fielding and batting of the Bloordale Green Machine came through with a walk off victory in the bottom of the 7th, winning 9 - 8. A great game to end a great tournament.

July 11 2010 West Hill SOBA Tournament Champs
Bloordale Bantam Team
The Bloordale Bantam team (14 and 15 year olds) were the 2010 Champions in West Hill. Bloordale went undefeated, going a remarkable 5-0 over the weekend and culminating in a tense, exciting 11-10 final game win against North Bay. The championship game went back and forth for more than 3 hours before Bloordale won it in the 10th inning with outfielder Brandon Haynes squeezing the final out on a long, loud fly ball to left field with the tying run on third base. The tournament win was a complete team effort. Over the course of the tournament, every single Bloordale player scored and drove in at least two runs. They had solid pitching from a number of hurlers. Five different Bloordale players were named game MVP in each of the team's games

Head Coach Matt Ferriera made a special Ranger's tournament debut when he skipped the Minor Midgets to a 5-0 record and victory in the Vaughan tournament June 4-6. What made this title extra special is that the Rangers gave up no runs en route to the title, posting 5 shutout victories. The EBA is investigating to see if this has ever been done before at an OBA AAA tournament.
